Privacy Window Films
New homes today tend to have more and more windows than ever before. We love the natural light and openness that all of these windows bring to a home, but so much glass can also create new privacy concerns. Sidelights, bathroom and closet windows can all create opportunities for people to see in to your home. Additionally large windows in garages and garage doors put your cars, tools, and other belongings on displayay. There are two ways to establish privacy: Frosted and patterned decorative films, or reflective window films.

Frosted and Patterned Privacy Films
Frosted and patterned window films, also referred to as decorative films, obscure or completely hide the view through a window. The advantage of these films is that often times, natural light is still preserved. These films usually also offer privacy both during the daytime and at night. However, the homeowner will lose the ability to see clearly through the window. Frosted or patterned films are a great choice in bathrooms, garages, closets, sidelights, and other areas where natural light is desired.

Reflective Privacy Films
Reflective window films offer privacy by reflecting light back at the outside viewer. These films are much like a one-way mirror. During daylight hours, you will still be able to see clearly out your window, but outside viewers have difficulty seeing in. Reflective films do not offer any additional privacy at night, however. In most situations, when coupled with blinds or curtains for night time privacy, reflective window film is an excellent privacy solution. These films are only reflective when the outside light is brighter than the inside light, so these films may be less effective in some lighting conditions with very bright rooms with lots of windows. Reflective films offer many solar-control benefits as well. This is a great choice for establishing privacy in rooms with lots of windows where views outside need to be preserved.
